Today feels like the beginning of something special.
For months, this idea has been quietly growing in my sketchbook margins – part dream, part plan, part love letter to Tasmania’s creative spirit. And now, finally, I get to share it with you: The Tasmanian Maker’s Journal.

Why I Started This Journal
I’ve always believed that making – whether it’s with paint, clay, thread, or words – is more than just what we create. It’s how we live, connect, and understand ourselves.
Tasmania is full of remarkable makers: artists tucked away in mountain studios, weavers working with the softest local wool, potters shaping vessels that seem to hold the island’s soul. But so many of these stories stay hidden – shared quietly at markets or between friends.
I wanted to create a space to gather those stories.
A place that honours the hands that make, the land that inspires, and the creative pulse that runs through this island.
That’s the heart of the Tasmanian Maker’s Journal – a gentle collection of stories, ideas, and conversations about art, craft, community, and creative living here in lutruwita/Tasmania.
What You’ll Find Here
Think of this space as part journal, part gallery, part fireside chat. Over time, I’ll be sharing:
Stories & Interviews – meeting Tasmanian artists and craftspeople, and learning what drives their creativity.
Reviews & Recommendations – favourite art and craft books, tools, and materials worth exploring.
Creative Living Notes – reflections on slow making, sustainability, and what it means to live a creative life in tune with the seasons.
Workshops & Events – highlights from markets, open studios, and community gatherings across the island.
Behind the Scenes – videos and snippets from my own making journey and visits with local creatives.
It won’t be polished or perfect – just real, honest, and made with love.
How You Can Be Part of It
This journal isn’t just mine – it’s ours.
It’s meant to grow through connection and conversation.
If you’re a Tasmanian maker, I’d love to hear your story.
If you love art, craft, and handmade living, come along for the ride – comment, share, and join the conversation.
If you simply want a bit more beauty and mindfulness in your days, I hope you’ll find that here too.
You can:

From My Journal to Yours
As I write this, I’m surrounded by the gentle mess of making – paint water, fabric scraps, a can of Coke that is slowly warming. It feels fitting. This is where the best ideas start: in the middle of the creative chaos.
So here’s to the beginning – to the makers, the dreamers, the ones who find beauty in process.
I can’t wait to share this journey with you.
